The acclaimed singer-songwriter, performer and record producer Boo Hewerdine joins us as our first Writer in Residence for 2021. In a glittering career spanning several decades Boo has written songs for such major artists as KD Lang, Sia, Paul Young, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, David McAlmont, Natalie Imbruglia and is perhaps best known for his long time collaboration as producer and songwriter with three time BRIT award winning artists Eddi Reader. It was his International hit song Patience of Angels for Eddi that brought Boo his Ivor Novello nomination in 1995.
As a producer he has worked with such international artists as The Corrs and Chris Difford (from Squeeze) and was invited by Nick Hornby to write music for the soundtrack of the film adaptation of his book Fever Pitch. Former founder and front man of the much-loved eighties group The Bible, Boo still tours regularly playing to sold out houses of both fans and songwriters alike.
Described by the BBC as "one of Britain's most consistently accomplished songwriters" and Nick Coleman of The Independent Sunday as "one of the best songwriters we have".
We are honoured to welcome Boo to launch The Knoydart Songwriting Retreat.
